Out July 21, 2010 on the slamming Toolroom Records is the re-rub by Dave and Funkagenda, with myself and D. Ramirez on the remix duties.

Two of house music’s most highly sought after talents in Funkagenda and Dave Seaman team up for
Toolroom Trax’s next release, a devilishly dark re-rub of ‘The Mighty Ming’.

Having conquered both the underground and commercial floors, Dave Seaman has enjoyed success for well over a decade with remixes and productions for the likes of New Order through to Michael Jackson and shows no intention of resting on his laurels with this superb release. Funkagenda continues to impress with his unique, forward-thinking productions and stunning DJ sets moving the biggest global dancefloors from Ministry of Sound, London to Space, Ibiza.

‘The Mighty Ming’ is a monstrous track that takes you on a dark and distinctive foray into some gritty tones. A sharp, resonating bass grinds away beneath some tight beats and oriental tinted percussion. Eastern tinged stabs punch through the mix with vocal cuts and side-chained pads propelling this into a peak time bomb.

On remix duties is the sublime D.Ramirez, providing a mighty remix in his own inimitable style. He combines an old school flavour with warm, crisp synths and a euphoric breakdown that will have the party-goers raising their hands in the air. Timothy Allan completes the remix package on a deeper note with flickering percussion, deep bass tones and a mix of arpeggios and driving synths making for a great take on the original.

The Shrink Reloaded – Nervous Breakdown 2010 gets the Timothy Allan treatment, Armand Van Helden style jacking beats and that riff which will send you into a nervous breakdown.

I’ve finished it only a few days ago and so far it’s the “Big Tune of the Week” on Energy FM in the UK, and is having it’s clubbing debut thanks to Fatboy Slim at the opening of Space Ibiza 2010… Massive!!

They’re all tunes I’m really happy with, my best work to date. They range from cruisy mellow melodic prog/tech to big room banging club. My first video in the series was so well received, and so many people asked for a second one… that I’ve decided to do another! This whole video focuses on tips for Synths and Bass for House and EDM in general.

As with my first video in the series, this one is aimed towards beginner to intermediate producers who want to fast-track the production learning curve. However, in some sections I’ve tried to cater for all levels, so I’m sure that even the more experienced producers will also gain a tip or two.

It is in this party spirit that Open Records is giving our fans both at home and abroad a special Christmas treat in the shape of Fiord’s Keen String Remixes EP, featuring 7 top tracks including four winners from our remix competition earlier this year.

The end result was almost overwhelming and with over 200 entries from all corners of the globe, we decided the standard was so high to declare four equal winners in a variety of styles to join Open Records artists Fiord, GMJ and Eegor on our final release for 2009.

Canadian-born, Melbourne-based producer Timothy Allan immediately impressed with his sophisticated melodic progressive house interpretation, while another Melbourne producer, Blinky, also proved he is a name to watch with a driving progressive techno bomb.

Mexico’s Interactive Noise caught our ear with a big outdoor festival stormer, while New Zealand act Opiuo rounds the EP off in spectacular style with a glitchy, bass-heavy broken beat monster that has been tried and tested at events all over the globe.

The Sargents’ debut EP, The Overflow, released July 2009 on Alicia Records, has been an underground sensation, reaching no. 3 overall on TrackItDown (no. 1 most purchased progressive house track), charting on DJ Downloads, DJ Tunes and several other stores, and selected as the “Summer Hit” for Virgin Megastores in Germany, France and Switzerland. Mostly recently, the track has been played across the global, including by one of the biggest DJs in the world, Markus Schulz.
